Why I won't vote: same shit, different wrapper

Everyone who justifies their support for Democrats with the logic that they might not be great but they're better than Republicans really ought to read this kind of thing. Democrats do all the exact same things as Republicans, they just do them more discretely. Bush isn't unique for the kinds of things he's done; he's unique because he's so open about it. Obama will do all the same basic things, only he has half the country under his jedi mind shit so they'll support him to the bitter end. Good little liberals express bitter amazement that middle class people would ever be so stupid as to vote decidedly against their own interests for the Republicans, while they vote decidedly against their own interest for Democrats. Kiss the boot that stomps on your face forever. It is the American way.

When you have voted in the past, did you agree with EVERYTHING that politician supported? Most people realize that when they vote, their candidate will support some things that they disagrees with. Voters also realize that on those issues that they disagree, they must voice their opinion to those in power.

If you read Glenn Greenwald, you know that there is a growing movement of voters on the left and the right who are pissed off at the way our politicians are behaving, and we are organizing to do something about it. If the current tactic doesn't work, we'll try a new one. If we run out of tactics and the government is still out of control, then it's time for something more drastic.

You've mentioned this before about how we're bound to have some disagreement with our representatives. And if it were a few disagreements about little things, that wouldn't be a big deal. But my disagreements are many and on the most important issues we facing our nation and the world.

If Glenn's tactics involve boycotting the election in protest of the terrible choices we're given, then I'm in. If his tactics involve voting for Obama no matter what, then I'm not.

That'll show 'em. Don't vote.

Think if more people just stayed home no one would get elected?

I think that if voter turnout was in the single digit percentages, the government would have a very hard time governing, which would be a good thing.
