A simple goal

I just think about doing things, but never actually do anything. It has now been a month since I started a blog entry about the idea of going back to school, and I haven't done anything with the idea since then. I don't want to be relying on poker income forever, but I'm doing absolutely nothing to move on.

So my very simple goal is to put some more effort into it before I leave for Las Vegas on April 15. If I haven't updated it by then, please berate me with hateful comments.

it's early, i know, but this comment isn't hateful beratement.

my advice/comment before you reach your deadline: help yourself. do everything you can to make it possible to succeed. set a defined goal. that way you'll know once you've achieved it or changed it. even setting "little" goals at the very least sets you on a path toward accomplishment and understanding what you're trying for. a general thought of "i'll put more effort into it" doesn't give a focus, nor a promise of action. how much is more? is "it" about time? is "it" about response? does "it" involve other people? while qualitative analysis is useful, quantitative analysis gets you places, and at the very least tells you where you are. and you should probably know where you're starting from before you plan where you're going.

best of luck.

Good advice, Jebus. I don't take that advice nearly enough, generally speaking.

In this specific case, I actually had a specific sub-goal in mind, although perhaps I didn' tarticulate it well.

thanks
