Maybe you can help clarify for me what's going on with this segregation DC case. I've read two articles about it and all I can draw is that the SC says that school systems can't use race as a card in telling kids where they can't go. If race is used as a filter, then that's equivalent to affirmative action, which I strongly disagree with. I strongly believe children from disadvantaged backgrounds, chiefly (and maybe solely) economical, should be given more opportunity, but using race as a catch-all is a blunt instrument.
Maybe I'm missing the nuance or full implication of this decision, so that's why I asked you if you would be able to clarify this for me.
I actually need to look at it more before I can make informed comments. My first reaction is that it seems segregationy. Couldn't let that stop me from including it in a good rant though.
