This evening a friend suggested I sign up to be a cop. It is an interesting idea - go through the training, and the worst that could happen is I don't like it and quit. Unless I get shot.
Anyone else have any ideas? I'm open to absolutely any suggestion.

For the most part, cops are not the best sort of people to hang out with. The main reason to become a cop is to take advantage of the corruption. I have a hunch you would be slightly uncomfortable with that. Somewhat better would be FBI agent if you like the law enforcement w/ guns idea.

This job affords you the opportunity to pontificate all day long to residents and medical students, not to mention countless nurses and anesthesiologists, who are trapped in an OR with you all day long. You can advise them as to the movies they should have already seen, make references to obscure quotations and mock them mercilessly when they pretend to know what you're talking about, educate them on the political views that they should already have and the arcane topics and facts that they should already know about, and, if you so choose, generally make them feel like idiots 98.7% of the time.
Your surgical specialty? Cutting off people's junk with the limited possibility of future reattachment.
