There are too many things going on now that are right in my wheelhouse that I don't even know where to start. I'll just summarize: the news media is pathetic, religious people are bigot assholes, Dick Cheney is pure evil, Democrats are pussies, and I forgot to watch the Maryland game last night.
I built a scratching/climbing post for my cats. This was the most absurdly simple job, but I'm not handy at all, so I'm feeling pretty damn proud of my work. Katsumoto is already fearlessly climbing it all the way to the ceiling and jumping off. Hattori is a bit more cautious, but seems to be enjoying it as well. I'm turning into a 67 year old woman, and it doesn't bother me a bit.

are your cats declawed? if they have no claws i want to see how my nutball cat would interact with them. also, we still on for bridge on wednesday? there's a matlock marathon thursday morning though, so i'll have to leave by 7. holla!
i wouldn't declaw my cat. declawing is fucked up shit, or so i'm told
congrats on your manly carpentry skills. and don't declaw your cats. just keep their nails trimmed and buy them one of those cardboard scratchers if the climbing post doesn't do the trick.
oh i'm sorry, but the last time i checked, man beards do not receive regular manicures. you try trimming the claws of a man beard cat for 15 years. i'd rather traumatize him than have fucked up furniture and look like i cut myself for attention. and don't tell me cutting off a domesticated, indoor cat's claws is somehow more inhumane than removing his balls. moral relativism is hilarious.

Your Maryland game update: Terps came out flat as always. 41-31 UVa at half time. Down 15 with 12 minutes to play, Mike Jones decided to wake up and start hitting threes, converting dunks and playing defense. They got as close as 65-63 with 54 seconds left and end up losing 69-65. Typical Maryland game, keeping me interested enough to care, only to lose. Again.
if by "manly" you mean awkwardly holding a hammer with two hands. at least one of us did summers with Habitat.
But...
a) adspar did do a good job
b) that job was ridiculously simple and easy but even more props to him for following through on something that didn't involve a timeline or a threat of violence against his person
c) the cats look freaking awesome when they climb up this beam!
d) ball removal v. claw removal was something recently brought up by adspar, was he riding your wave or are you two of like mind?
Walt came up with ball/claw comparison on his own, but I think it is a pretty obvious one. Kira's retort is solid [neutering is humane because it reduces the number of unwanted pets who are eventually euthanized], plus Walt obviously pointed out half of the weakness of his own comment.
Plus the result of the 2 surgeries is different. Declawed cats seem to have behavior problems that fixed animals don't have.
