Hanzo

We adopted a cat today.

Growing up, my family always had a dog, but never a cat. I kind of want to get a puppy, but we aren't home enough during the day to take care of one yet, so we decided to get a pet that wouldn't require as much attention.

Kira has declared him "the most attractive male in this household." He's certainly quite a handsome fellow, and very curious and playful.

We shall call him Hattori Hanzo.

after our first night together we've learned a bit about Hattori's personality:
1. he's got an excellent sense of hearing
2. his favorite toy is a bell in a ball
3. he's not a good jumper
4. he's a runner
5. he gives chase to the bell in a ball but then just stands there and watches it (we thought he might be blind, but that's not the case)
6. he's constantly purring (moreso a sign that the cat is in the mood to be sociable than that he is 'happy'), which makes me think he'd do best with another playmate

adspar...let's go back and get another one!

Get another one!
We got two kittens last spring (their first birthday is this Tuesday, actually), and I'm so happy we got two. Even when we're gone all day (or on weekend trips), they have each other for company. And it's not that much more food or litter. It's so fun to watch them play and play-fight together, and a relief knowing they have each other when we're bad pet owners.

I know where you can get a free cat, actually.
